I am Kumar Shah, 24 years old, living in Charlotte, NC working as a Software Engineer for Verian Technologies. As you might have been able to tell from the blog, I am discovering the joy of RIA Development and blogging about it. The opinions expressed on this blog are my own.

I came to the US in 2002 from India to do my Bachelor's in Computer Science. College proved to be an adequate source of book Java/C++ knowledge, while the rest of the world was moving forward with RIA. Interesting Note: The term RIA was coined by Macromedia/Abobe in 2002 right as I was starting College (source: wiki). I was fortunate to learn ASP 3.1 and VB Script through the IIT IPRO project courses program. During the program I was involved in developing a prenatal care management application for ACCESS Community Health Network. It was not an RIA though, but the experience was invaluable.

I graduated and a few months later joined Verian as an entry level software engineer. This is when I learnt ColdFusion as the product I work on is coldfusion based. I immediately liked ColdFusion for the simple fact that powerful things could be done with simple code.

I am a World of Warcraft player, and also enjoy playing my Xbox 360 and other games on the PC.

Battlestar Galactica would be favourite television series, and I am also a regular watcher of Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen and 24. I have also watched every episode of Family Guy and Southpark. I also enjoy watching Soccer games (English Premiership) on TV and am an avid fan on Manchester United.

I do enjoy good movies. Some of my favourites (from Hollywood) would be The Shawshank Redemption, V for Vendetta, The Matrix, LOTR Triology, 12 Angry Men, The Usual Suspects, The Silence of the Lambs, Citizen Kane, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Guns of Navarone. A Varied taste as such.
